Ready Player One by Ernest Cline

Ready Player One has a couple points that make it great. First, I love this book. It has all the geeky references you could ever want and more. Second, it's set in the future (2044 to be exact) and it is all about virtual reality. If there was a virtual reality like OASIS now, I would be on the bandwagon. Third, the story makes you feel like your there and even though the world is a complete disaster I would like to be there.
Enough of my opinions, summary: it's 2044 and Wade is growing up in the stacks(trailer park high rises). His only escape from reality is the time he has on OASIS (Ontologically Anthropocentic Sensory Immersive Simulation), the virtual reality that people turned to when their world turned to shit. On Oasis, you can go to school, shop, play it like a MMO and much more. You pay for things on OASIS with your own money and OASIS money is the most profitable currency of anywhere.
Anyways, Wade is a gunter or egg hunter. That means that he searches for the most sought after Easter Egg of all time. Created by James Halliday or Anorak (a die-hard geek and creator of OASIS who makes millions), the Easter Egg is part of his will and the first to solve it will get all of his money. After five long years, Wade finds the first piece of the puzzle to solving the Easter Egg. The story follows Wade through his adventure in finding the egg, the people he meets and the lessons he learns.

Letters from Camp by Kate Klise

Now, I know this is a children's book, but I keep coming back to it. I don't know if  it's the pictures and style of the book or the cool premise and the characters. Both are pretty awesome. Unlike many other books there are no chapters or real story aspects about this book it is a collect of letters from camp as the title describes. But it gets the story across and well at that. I enjoy the book and the format that it has it fun and gives another dimension to the book.
The book is about 3 sets of twins, Barbie Q. and Brisket, Mimi and Ivan and Charlotte and Charlie. All of who, hate the other twin. They are all sent to Camp Happy Harmony. Camp Happy Harmony is run by the Harmony family, a singing group that lost all it's popularity and is trying to raise there fame again. The kids notice something wrong with the camp and investigate.
COME IMMEDIATELY!
